Today was the day that I completed my first show on Shock Radio! It feels like such a relief because I was incredibly nervous beforehand, but ended up having an absolute blast!

Trudy and I both presented our show "Three's Not a Crowd" - an appropriate name when all three of us are able to be there (this week unfortunately Millie couldn't join us). The show started off a bit slow and rough, but it was my first time in Shock's studio, which is completely different to the studios I've used in the past. After the first couple of links, however, we got into the stride of things and really began having fun with it. Admittedly, there were a couple mistakes along the way - a bed didn't play as I had hoped which caused a long, awkward silence. I felt quite embarrassed at first, but with hindsight I understood that it's all a learning curve, and so I now know exactly how to perfect this for next time.

Being part of the show also allowed me to reflect and evaluate my own work, particularly for my University course work. After my show, I listened back to listen to the hour we had just done to be able to hear what the audience heard, and to try and spot how I could improve in the future. I want to try and make our links from the talking points into the songs a lot smoother, to make the show as a whole seem more professional. I think this, other than just being tighter on the production overall - which comes with practice and time, is my main focus point to look at to improve. I will continue to listen closely to BBC Radio 1, Radio X and Capital to look for inspiration and take ideas from how the professionals create and execute their shows.

I'm already excited for next week's show and thinking of ideas and things to talk about. We introduced the idea of people anonymously sending in confessions to the show to be discussed by Millie, Trudy and I live next week, which we really hope will end up working well live on air!
